Be Welcomed by Our Long-Term Educator Family

Taigum Child-Edu Care Centre is a genuinely family-owned and operated early learning centre, open Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, 52 weeks a year. We offer a warm, caring, and educational space for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.

Nestled on one acre of land at the end of a quiet no-through road, our centre provides a calm and secure environment where children can explore, learn, and thrive. Our diverse community, speaking over 13 languages, works together to create a supportive space for families, educators, and children to grow.

Our passionate and qualified team, many of whom have been with us for years, foster a love of learning and nature through our play-based, child-led programs. Come visit us.

Meet Our Dedicated and Experienced Educators

Our dedicated team of qualified early childhood professionals are passionate about creating meaningful relationships with children, families, and the community. Many of our educators have been with us long-term, providing the consistency and care that builds genuine trust and belonging.

We go above and beyond to support every child’s growth, every family’s journey, and one another as a professional team. Our educators are encouraged to thrive in their roles through ongoing training, reflection, and professional development — ensuring continuous improvement and the highest quality of care for all children.

Hello me name is Janine and I am Daph in nees daughter. I am an early childhood teacher and the children call me JJean, Neen and Jean. Mum and I opened the service in 1997. I designed the site around the concept of SPACE and natural beauty. Mum adores beautiful gardens and wanted the children to be surrounded by nature. I wanted usable , practical teaching spaces that allow participants to feel comfortable and access equipment easily.

The three separate wings were designed so that the children  are not overwhelmed.

Mum and I are active components of the service, it is our passion and our love. We are Sri lankan and in our culture family and education are highly valued.

Come and visit us, and also many other services before you make your decision about enrolling your child. Not all childcare is the same, as we have our heart at the core of our centre.

See you soon

Our beautiful centre makes me feel happy, loved, like we’re a family, I’m at home. I am very proud of our diversity.

My favourite things about working with children are their honesty, e.g. they say why do you have a walking stick, they seek me out and want to connect and engage with me.

I was born in Sri Lanka, where family is treasured, children are celebrated and education is valued.

I just love to talk to the children about their world and what is important to them.

The most important thing an educator can do is to be totally available for the children in their care.

Our licensee Daphne has an incredible story, read about her above or in this Chermside Guide article.

Meet Gwen Butler, our Centre Director and Educational Leader.  Gwen brings a wealth of experience to our team, and has a passion for quality early education and advocating for the child’s voice.

Our Community

We believe strong partnerships with families create the best outcomes for children. From the very first day, we work together to ensure smooth transitions and shared goals that support each child’s growth and wellbeing.

We actively engage with the wider community whenever possible, recognising that meaningful connections help children, families, and educators thrive.

Our community is built on relationships, between families, educators, children, and local networks, each playing an important role in shaping who we are. As our families grow and change, so too does our community, continually evolving with the people who make it special.
